Magsaysay Institute of Shipping Welcomes 138 Scholars
On June 15, 2012, Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) welcomed 138 cadet scholars to its cadetship program, the Academe Industry Linkage Program (AILP).
The cadets are under the sponsorship of the Development Bank of the Philippines and will take their 3rd year in Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering at MIS. The cadets are the 2nd batch of MIS AILP scholars and come from different MIS partner schools all over the Philippines: West Bay College, PIMSAT Colleges, Bicol Merchnat Marine College Inc., Aklan Polytechnic College, Cebu Technological University, Holy Cross of Davao College, and Mindanao Polytechnic College.
The welcome ceremony was attended by representatives from Mitsui OSK Lines, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, Development Bank of the Philippines, parents of scholars and MIS partner schools.
AILP was established to strengthen the linkage of the academe and the maritime industry’s need for high standards of training. Through this program, MIS develops future officers, ratings, and other maritime professionals who are ready for the increasingly stringent global standards for compliance, competence, safety, and quality.
The Magsaysay Institute of Shipping was founded in 1991 by Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, Fairmont Shipping and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
